“Hoàng Kim Khánh, the “Beauty Tycoon,” to Bring His Fleet of Billion-Dollar Cars to Phu Quoc, Who Ow

Doanh nhân Hoàng Kim Khánh (Hoang Kim Khanh), recently made waves on social media with an announcement that he will be bringing his fleet of luxury cars to Phu Quoc on April 7th and 8th.

According to the images he shared, the lineup of cars includes the McLaren Senna, Bentley Mulsanne EWB, Lamborghini Aventador S, Ferrari 488 Pista Spider, and Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Of these, the McLaren Senna, worth nearly 50 billion VND, was brought to Vietnam in 2020, as a gift from Mr. Khanh to his wife to celebrate their 22nd anniversary of co-managing their chain of beauty clinics. This limited edition version was one of only 500 produced worldwide, with only three painted in Cerberus Pearl, just like the cars owned by this power couple.

Mr. Khanh’s wife, Mrs. Phan Thi Mai (also known as Mai Lisa), seems to be keeping up with her husband’s extravagant taste. In February 2022, on their wedding anniversary, she gifted him the “superpiece” Koenigsegg Regera from Sweden. This car is worth four times as much as the McLaren Senna and is one of only 80 in the world.

The Koenigsegg Regera is considered the most expensive car in Vietnam. Previously, this record belonged to a Pagani Huayra owned by billionaire Pham Tran Nhat Minh (also known as Minh “Nhua”). When asked about the reason behind splurging on gifts for her husband, Mrs. Mai said, “It’s simple, because I love him, so I also love what he loves.”

Starting from humble beginnings

Hoàng Kim Khánh was born into a farming family in Nam Sach district, Hai Duong province. In order to escape poverty, his family decided to “move south” and take on various jobs to make ends meet. Initially, Mr. Khanh studied engineering, but after a few years of struggling, he returned to school to study business administration and started his own media company.

A turning point seems to have occurred when Mr. Khanh met and married Mrs. Phan Thi Mai. Speaking to Người Đưa Tin magazine, he shared that both he and his wife came from poor backgrounds and went from being business partners to becoming friends and eventually a married couple, so they understand each other very well.

Established in 1998, Mrs. Mai’s beauty clinic, Mailisa, initially faced challenges due to the lower demand for beauty services compared to today. Meanwhile, Mr. Khanh’s company was growing. The couple decided that only one of their two companies could thrive and expand.

“At that time, I insisted on keeping the media company because it was my passion, and it was doing well,” Mr. Khanh said. “But seeing the hard work, passion, and commitment my wife had for her profession, and because I love her, I softened my stance and changed my decision, trying to develop Mailisa beauty clinic together with her.”

Becoming a “Beauty Tycoon” and owning a “stunning” fleet of luxury cars

Mr. Khánh currently holds the position of CEO of the Mailisa beauty clinic system, while Mrs. Mai serves as the General Director. According to the address listed on their website, the brand currently has 8 branches scattered from the south to the north, 1 vocational training center, and 1 bridal photography studio in Ho Chi Minh City. Their main activities include tattooing, beauty services, and cosmetics sales.

In early January 2023, news emerged that the Department of Health in Ho Chi Minh City had fined Mailisa Beauty Clinic, located at 86 + 88 + 92 Huynh Van Banh, Ward 15, Phu Nhuan District, with a fine of 160 million VND and suspended its operations for 18 months in the field of skincare.

Specifically, Mailisa was penalized for engaging in activities such as providing medical examinations and treatments without a license. They were also found to have advertised their medical services without proper authorization. Two skincare staff members at Mailisa were fined 35 million VND each for not having professional certificates.

However, in a video on Mailisa’s TikTok channel, Mrs. Mai stated that “all the information about Mailisa being suspended and closed is false, completely untrue.”

“The reason Mailisa remains open and operating normally is that it has never been suspended. Mailisa does not disregard the law,” she emphasized, adding that their customer base is always “overflowing.”

In terms of their car collection, Mr. Khanh and Mrs. Mai began their luxury car pursuit in 2017 with a Lamborghini Aventador S. They have a principle of only owning unique and beautiful cars, and if there is already one in Vietnam, they firmly decide not to buy a second one.

Mr. Khanh also revealed that he is a loyal player, saying, “I have never sold a single car, even if it’s just a Honda Future. I don’t remember how many cars I own now.”

Their impressive collection of cars worth hundreds of billions of VND has cemented Mr. Khanh’s status as a renowned figure in the luxury car scene in Vietnam, alongside Pham Tran Nhat Minh and Nguyen Quoc Cuong (also known as Cuong “Do La”).

In addition to their fleet of luxury cars, Mr. Khanh and Mrs. Mai regularly participate in charitable activities. Most recently, in January, Mailisa Beauty Clinic donated 562 million VND to provide Tet gifts to over 1,100 underprivileged families in Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province – Mrs. Mai’s hometown.
